Conversation on Police Violence, Dallas Retaliation & A Way Forward – Sun., July 10

In response to the horrific events that have unfolded over the last 72 hours across our country, we will take some time following our service of worship this Sunday (10AM) to share our thoughts, outrage, revulsion, and, God-willing, our hopes about moving forward together as a community of faith and justice in Harlem.
As you are by now aware, two more black men–Alton Silver and Philando Castile–were killed at the hands of police earlier this week and these injustices have now been compounded by the horrific killings of five police officers and wounding of seven others in Dallas, TX.
Even as we may be experiencing a sense of futility and helplessness, we are not powerless and without productive measures to take. One suggestion is to try to limit kids’ access to the Facebook videos that are continually rehashing the truly awful scenes.

Another suggestion is a link for common sense police reforms found here

And finally, we have the opportunity to hear from and speak to one another.
Although Fr. Williams is still away on his previously scheduled trip, please come to share your thoughts, feelings, and ideas on Sunday with Mo. Breyer.
